About this almonds
Toasted with a touch of salt, the traditional almond variety in our territory, the Largueta, could not be tastier! As the skin is thick, roasting slightly detaches it from the seed and with a simple gesture of holding it between the thumb and forefinger and moving them slightly, the skin comes off.
Harvested in the farms of our farmers in the Altiplano Estepario, located in the north of Granada, Almeria and Northwest of Murcia, these almonds undergo their normal process of shelling and after this, a process of roasting in a traditional way.
By means of an exhaustive scanning, we manage to discard the bitter almonds that may be in the reception from the farms, so that we keep the percentage within the lowest in the market and you can enjoy sweet almonds without bitterness in your mouth.
Our organic regenerative almonds contain, among other vitamins and minerals, an abundance of vitamin E compared to other non-organic or even organic, but not regenerative, almond oils. Among the benefits of Vitamin E we can find:
- Great power to combat the appearance and development of cancer cells.
- It reduces the risk of thrombosis and cardiovascular diseases due to its anticoagulant action.
- Delays aging.
- Improves the health of our eyes.
- It participates in the formation of red blood cells.
- Reduces chronic inflammation.
- Maintains healthy and strong hair, hair and nails.
- Prevents Parkinson’s disease.
- Improves healing.
- Prevents dementia and cognitive impairment.
- Promotes the proper functioning of the nervous system.
- Improves memory and learning.
- Contributes to good muscle function and improves performance and recovery after physical activity.
These regenerative organic almonds come from the Soil and Landscape Restoration project that supports the Alvelal Association y la Commonland Foundation. Hence the name “regenerative”, which is due to the special practices with which the crops are cared for, which differentiate them from the rest and are reflected in the quality and flavor of the final product. For this reason, we believe it is important that it be reflected in its denomination.
Our farmers were already within the framework of organic farming and since a few years ago, in 2016, adding the knowledge acquired through the training and supervision of the Alvelal Association in regenerative practices. The farmers who formed the Almendrehesa society relied on this differential basis of the application of regenerative practices in their day to day and, thus, produce not only organic almonds, but organic almonds regenerative of soil and landscape.
These practices implemented through the operational group 4 returns son las que aseguran un futuro fértil a las próximas generaciones, las que pretenden y están consiguiendo que los nutrientes del suelo permanezcan y que la biodiversidad genere un ecosistema propio autóctono de la zona. The practices applied are:
- Creation of vegetation cover with native species specially chosen to support that particular soil and its characteristics, within the framework of the ecosystem in which it is located.
- Oasification through the creation of natural ponds for rainwater collection.
- Whales to catch the water near the trees and hold it.
- Only the necessary amount of machining.
- Planting of windbreak hedges to attract pollinators.
- Planting of aromatic herbs.
- Inclusion of bee panels.
- Inclusion of extensive livestock on the farms.
